Firms flying high with Cherries

Two companies based at Bournemouth Airport’s Aviation Park are sponsoring AFC Bournemouth’s expanding Premier League Kicks programme in Christchurch for the third year running.

AIM Altitude and Curtiss Wright jointly sponsor the Premier League club’s expanding programme and have signed on again as an official partner of the self-funding, non-profit Community Sports Trust.

The organisation runs the hugely successful Premier League-backed scheme locally and popular Cherries defender Adam Smith is the club’s ambassador for the Christchurch region.

Amy Marks, the club’s partnerships manager, said: “Our Premier League Kicks project in Christchurch has doubled in size over the past year and our partnership with businesses such as AIM Altitude and Curtiss Wright enables us to reach out to so many more youngsters. It is brilliant having them both on board again.

“Last season more than 1,550 young people took part in our Premier League Kicks sessions, which encourages them to get involved in playing sports in the evenings and sees them benefit from a healthier lifestyle, improved well-being and, most importantly, offers them a safe environment to enjoy themselves.”

Christian Howe, group marketing manager at Curtiss-Wright, said: “We were more than delighted to get involved for another season. As a locally-based business with hundreds of staff in the Christchurch area, it is fantastic to be able to sponsor such a worthwhile activity which gives so much back to the community.”

Curtiss-Wright Corporation, born from the first powered flight in 1903 and with the most renowned legacy in the aerospace industry, is a market leader with diverse, technically advanced, product lines operating within a wide range of global markets from agriculture to automotive and aerospace to nuclear energy.

Colin Thornton, group design and engineering director of AIM Altitude, said: “I have been to see the Premier League Kicks sessions myself and witness the great benefits that so many young people get from this excellent activity. We had no hesitation is signing up again.”

AIM Altitude designs, engineers and manufactures aircraft cabin interiors for the world’s major airlines, delivering iconic bars, lounges and social spaces.

AIM Altitude and Curtiss Wright staff will have the opportunity to engage in the Christchurch sessions as well as having a presence and advertising at Vitality Stadium.
