AFC Bournemouth is delighted to be celebrating their partnership with Riverside Travel as their first season working with the club comes to a conclusion.

Riverside Travel, regional supporters of the club, is a family run business based in Tarrant Hinton, Dorset. Their fleet comprises of a variety of taxis and minibuses for hire with a driver, with seating capacity for up to 19 passengers.

They currently have over 36 vehicles in their fleet, ten of which are wheelchair accessible.

This season, they’ve been providing a wheelchair accessible minibus, known as the Riverside Rocket, as a travel option for all away Championship fixtures, meaning that disabled supporters can cheer on the Cherries with ease.

A couple who have really benefitted from the service provided by Riverside Travel are Philomena and Tony Mutter, lifelong Cherries fans.

They go up and down the country to watch their team and have barely missed a game over the last few years, but their travel has been made significantly easier with the use of the Riverside Rocket across 2021/22.

Watch below as the Mutters tell their story in our special video with Riverside Travel.

After an incredible successful first season working with the club, Simon Beckwith from Riverside Travel spoke to afcb.co.uk about the partnership.

“Here at Riverside, we are very proud of the work we do supporting our local communities, with regards to less advantaged children and adults,” he began.

“This has continued over many years and we are particularly proud of the service we provide to AFC Bournemouth regarding the accessibility transport.  We have built up a strong relationship with our passengers and they have named the vehicle the Riverside Rocket.

“Our driving teams really look forward to their days out, something that is very important at 3am in the morning when you are starting the run to Middlesbrough!

“We are looking forward to continuing our working collaboration with AFC Bournemouth over the coming seasons as we feel we fill an important role within the structure of the football club.

“We wish all our passengers and the teams all the best for the end of season run in – up the Cherries!”

AFC Bournemouth’s EDI Manager, Hannah Powis, also commented.

“The partnership with Riverside Travel is one that we are extremely proud of here at AFC Bournemouth. Inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do as a club and the partnership enables us to add to this by ensuring that our disabled supporters are able to access and enjoy away matches as other supporters can.

“Simon and his team are hugely passionate, caring and personable which makes the experience of the riverside rocket one that is thoroughly enjoyed by all supporters that have used it. We look forward to continuing the partnership with Riverside travel over the coming seasons.”
