Cherries Kickstart with Vitality a huge success

AFC Bournemouth’s Cherries Kickstart with Vitality scheme proved to be a huge success after it came to its conclusion at Vitality Stadium.

This was the scheme’s second year running and saw the Cherries once again team up with Official Wellness Partner Vitality to offer supporters the chance to kickstart the year and get fit within the confines of Vitality Stadium.

Two days after the final session, and marking the end of this year’s programme, all participants took part in the Kings Park parkrun, a 5K race next to Vitality Stadium which occurs every Saturday.

Almost 35 participants attended each week and worked together to accomplish their goal of completing the parkrun, a huge achievement for all involved.

Throughout the process, AFC Bournemouth’s Community Sports Trust coaches took the time to work with participants to develop their fitness and wider wellbeing, while Vitality supplied expert advice and provided rewards for completing the programme.

Alongside this, and as a thank you for their continued commitment during this time, participants enjoyed a special surprise in week five. The Cherries very own, Mark Travers and Gemma McGuinness stopped by to offer support, advice and encouragement to participants as they neared the end of their journey.

Head of Community, Steve Cuss, shared his thoughts with afcb.co.uk at the end of another excellent programme: “It was great to see so many people getting involved in our Vitality Kickstart scheme.

“It’s the second time we’ve done it now and it’s been fantastic to see people grow so much over the last six weeks. The parkrun was a fitting end to the programme and everyone felt such a sense of pride at completing it.”

The club would like to thank its Official Wellness Partner, Vitality, for supporting the programme and extend its congratulations to those that completed it.
