Brady keen to help in anti-bullying week

Recent recruit Robbie Brady visited local school children on Wednesday to join in a discussion on respect and anti-bullying.

In his first appearance in the community since joining the club, Brady attended St Mark’s Church of England Primary School in Talbot Woods and was joined by club legend and member of the first team coaching staff, Steve Fletcher.

The workshop and respect campaign is being supported by local estate agent Goadsby, who have been providing professional services across the residential and commercial property markets since 1958.

Since arriving in October, Republic of Ireland international Brady has been keen to get out and about and take part in the club’s community work.

The international break provided a perfect opportunity for him to do so and help educate children on the issues surrounding respect, disrespect and to inspire them to demonstrate positive and respectful behaviours within the classroom.

The club prides itself on its work on equality, diversity and inclusion and Brady’s visit is another example of how the whole club is working towards the same goal of helping to show children the importance of treating others with respect.

The club’s Community Sports Trust puts on more than 100 workshops throughout the year around the subjects of equality, diversity and inclusivity and Brady was keen to take part and be a role model for younger generations and help create a society equal for all.

Goadsby have been working with the club’s Community Sports Trust since 2013 with their respect campaign and are pleased the partnership can continue into its eighth year.

AFC Bournemouth’s head of community sports trust Steve Cuss said: "We always say it’s great to have a player along to our sessions and it was really positive to see Robbie keen to make an impact despite being new to the club.

"The respect workshops have been really successful at teaching children to be respectful of others at school and in everyday life.

"We’re extremely grateful to Goadsby for their continued support of the campaign that is making such a difference in every school we visit."

Paul Stewart Goadsby Commercial’s Managing Director added: "In what is our eighth year supporting the Respect Campaign initiative, we remain indebted to Steve Cuss and his Community Trust team for their tireless work.

"The children remain engaged throughout the lessons and that is testament to the quality of the delivery – no football pun intended!"
