Jordan Zemura started and played 45 minutes for Zimbabwe in their 2-2 draw with Algeria yesterday afternoon.
The Warriors found themselves two goals down to the reigning African Cup of Nations holders, but fought back well to claim a point for their efforts.
Algeria started the game strongly, with two goals in four minutes towards the end of the first-half, Andy Delort’s header giving them the lead, before a skilful finish from Riyad Mahrez.
The Warriors pulled a goal back two minutes before the break, as striker Knowledge Musona curled in a free-kick from the edge of the area beating Rais M'Bolhi in goal.
It was Musona who almost had a second moments before the whistle, with Zemura’s cross being the catalyst, but the Belgian-based forward couldn’t divert it on target.
However, with Zimbabwe pushing a deserved leveller did eventually come, as substitute Prince Dube netted in the 82nd minute with his first touch of the game.
The draw in Harare comes after Zimbabwe had lost the away fixture 3-1 on Friday, with Zemura making his debut and playing 71 minutes.
Zdravko Logarušić’s side still remain in a strong position to qualify for the competition, which has been pushed back to 2022, currently sat second in Group H with five points after four games.
