Wilson receives England call

Callum Wilson has been named in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the upcoming European qualifiers.

The Three Lions will take on the Czech Republic and Bulgaria, both away from home, as they look to strengthen their position at the top of Group A.

Wilson’s call up comes after a fine September, scoring four goals in the three fixtures against Everton, Southampton and West Ham.

Also in the England set-up, Aaron Ramsdale and Lloyd Kelly have both been included in the under-21s squad for the fixture against Austria.

Elsewhere, the Cherries have had two players called up to Ryan Giggs’ latest Wales squad.

Chris Mepham and Harry Wilson will be looking to feature in the games against Slovakia and Croatia, who sit in first and second place of Group E.

Giggs’ side sit in fourth but have a game in hand and are only four points off top spot.

Staying in the UK, Ryan Fraser receives yet another call up to the Scotland national team.

Steve Clarke’s side will first travel to Russia for a European qualifier, before heading home to host San Marino at Hampden Park.

The Cherries have two players involved in the Republic of Ireland set-up, as Mark Travers is named in the senior squad for fixtures against Georgia and Switzerland, while youngster Gavin Kilkenny is involved in the under-21s, who will face both Italy and Iceland.

Travers, who won his first cap for Mick McCarthy’s side in September, will be hoping to earn more minutes in the upcoming fixtures.

Across Europe, Nathan Ake once again makes the Holland squad as they face Northern Ireland in the Netherlands, before jetting off to Belarus for a second European qualifier.

Joshua King scored for Norway last time he was on international duty, helping his side to a 2-0 win over Malta before playing in a 1-1 draw with Sweden.

This time, he faces a tricky test in former European champions and World Cup winners Spain, who have already qualified for next summer’s competition, while an away fixture with Romania will round off his week with Norway.

Philip Billing is still awaiting his maiden appearance for the Denmark national team, but is called up into Age Hareide’s squad for the second time in as many months.

He’ll be hoping his side can take advantage of two home fixtures against Switzerland and Luxembourg to move to the top of Group D, the Danes currently occupying second place.

Billing’s central midfield partner Jefferson Lerma has been called into the Colombia squad for fixtures against Chile and Algeria, but doesn’t have too far to travel for the fixtures.

The 24-year-old will play in both Alicante and Lille respectively before flying back ahead of the game against Norwich.

Finally, youngster Alex Dobre has been named in Romania’s under-21 squad, as they host both Ukraine and Northern Ireland next week.
