AFC Bournemouth can confirm that former loanee Jack Wilshere is currently training with Jason Tindall’s first-team squad.

The midfielder, who made 27 appearances for the Cherries in 2016/17, is keeping up his fitness levels while he is without a club.

Wilshere left West Ham in October and last featured for the Hammers in their Carabao Cup victory over Hull City in September.

He joined the Cherries on a season-long loan from Arsenal in August 2016 and helped them to ninth place in the Premier League, the club’s highest top-flight finish.

Wilshere won back-to-back Player of the Month awards in November and December and played a starring role in the Cherries’ memorable 4-3 win over Liverpool.

However, his loan was cut short after he sustained a hairline fracture to his left fibula during a clash with Tottenham’s Harry Kane in April 2017.

Wilshere, who turns 29 on New Year’s Day, returned to the Gunners for treatment before signing for West Ham in July 2018.

Capped 34 times by England, Wilshere has scored twice for his country and made almost 200 appearances for Arsenal after progressing through the ranks at the North London club.
