AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

Voting for the AFC Bournemouth Supporters’ Charity of the Season is now open.

Earlier this month charities were invited to apply for the opportunity to be part of the voting process for the club’s charity partners for the new season.

And as per previous seasons, fans can have their say on which charity the club lends its support to throughout the course of the upcoming 2018/19 campaign.

The three charities nominated for the Supporters’ Charity of the Season are Waggy Tails, Bourne Free and Bournemouth Foodbank.

To cast your vote on the Supporters’ Charity of the Season supporters should head to the club’s official Twitter page and vote on the listed  poll here.

Waggy Tails

Waggy Tails Rescue is about happy dogs, happy people and happy homes. We always put the animal first, then the rest will follow. No healthy animal is ever put to sleep, which means that as well as re-homing we also look after dogs in long-term foster homes. These tend to be dogs who are too ill or too old to be re-homed, but we feel that these ‘oldies’ have a right to a dignified and happy retirement.

We need foster homes and sponsorship for our ‘oldies’ whose vets bills are consistently high. Becoming partners with AFC Bournemouth would allow us to spread news of what we do and generate interest, potential volunteers and forever homes for our rescues.

Bourne Free

Bourne Free promote equality and diversity for the public benefit in the Bournemouth and Poole area, and in particular but not exclusively, the elimination of discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation.

We stage an annual festival as a way to raise awareness and put on several projects open to the local community throughout the year. Partnering with AFC Bournemouth would help us reach areas of the community which we have previously found difficult and that would be massively beneficial.

Bournemouth Foodbank

Bournemouth Foodbank helps local people in crisis primarily through the provision of emergency food. We fed over 6,000 people in the financial year ending in April 2018. Clients are referred to us by a network of over 150 frontline agencies and are received by one of our six distribution centres where a team of volunteers will give them a listening ear as well as a three-day food parcel.

Clients can also be signposted to further support to help them regain their independence. Other services we offer include budget coaching, a cookery course and volunteering opportunities aimed to get people back into paid employment. Our vision is to end poverty and hunger in Bournemouth.
