Vote now for August Player of the Month

The four nominees for the first Michael Matthews Player-of-the-Month award have been revealed and it’s time to cast your vote!

August was a month of varying fortunes for the Cherries as they collected four points from their first four Premier League games.

Billy Sharp’s late leveller for Sheffield United denied Eddie Howe’s team victory on the opening day after Chris Mepham had given them the lead.

However, they got their first win in their second game when Joshua King’s penalty and Harry Wilson’s deflected strike saw them overcome promoted Aston Villa.

Although Harry Wilson posted an early goal-of-the-season contender against Manchester City, the champions registered a 3-1 victory at Vitality Stadium.

And while Callum Wilson opened his seasonal account at Leicester on Saturday, the Foxes ran out 3-1 winners thanks to Jamie Vardy’s double and a Youri Tielemans goal.

The first nominee is Phil Billing who has made an impressive start to his Cherries career following his summer move from Huddersfield.

Liverpool loan star Harry Wilson is our second nominee, the Wales international having scored two goals, including a stunning free-kick against Manchester City.

Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale made a series of fine saves in the 2-1 win at Villa Park and was unfortunate to be beaten by Sharp’s late goal for the Blades. He is our third nominee.

And our final nominee is Adam Smith who has been a model of consistency in all four games. Supporters can cast their vote for the Michael Matthews Player-of-the-Month for August by heading to the club’s Twitter account – @afcbournemouth
