About the role

The Marketing Manager will work directly with the business and operational functions of AFC Bournemouth, including Brand, Commercial, Community, Hospitality and Events, Media, Retail and Ticketing.

The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing, managing and deploying AFC Bournemouth’s marketing activities to meet the club’s wider business objectives. They will implement the marketing strategy to effectively engage with supporters, partners, and the wider community, whilst also to maximise commercial growth.

Main Duties

  • Create and deliver marketing campaigns designed for the needs of each department.
  • Ensure that all marketing activities are consistent and embody the AFC Bournemouth brand.
  • Understand the needs and challenges of each department and be able to suggest marketing ideas and solutions.
  • Help to construct fully integrated campaigns for products and services across the club that are creative, innovative and follow the club’s brand journey.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently whist maintaining high standards and attention to detail.
  • Creative copywriting for campaigns, projects and marketing communications.
  • Use best practice to put in processes that will make the club’s marketing department more efficient and productive.
  • Identify and lead on third party opportunities that could benefit the club.
  • Work with AFC Bournemouth’s Brand team to create compelling campaign material.
  • Report on marketing campaign performance to the Commercial Director and other stakeholders at the club, including Head of Brand, to ensure our creative and marketing teams' vision is aligned
  • Investigate technological advancements within the industry that may benefit the club.
  • Work with businesses within the community to boost the promotion of club products and events, whilst building relationships that could lead to future commercial relationships.
  • To ensure commitment to the club’s safeguarding vision and to actively promote the policies within your department, embedding safeguarding into procedures.
  • Obligation to promote and monitor the club’s health and safety policy and procedures within your department.
  • To ensure the club’s equality aims, action plan and policies are in evidence in all departmental actions, procedures and dealings.

Key Competencies

  • Minimum two years of experience and success working in a fast-paced marketing department, driving campaigns, collaboration and management of projects from beginning to completion
  • A clear communicator with the ability to work with different teams and manage relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Highly motivated team player with a flexible approach and strong multi-tasking skills
  • The ability to think ahead, prioritise and meet tight deadlines
  • Be dynamic, creative and have a commercial mindset
  • Experience of writing, managing and delivering integrated marketing campaigns using a range of marketing tools and channels
  • Pro-active approach with the ability to work unsupervised and act on own initiative
  • Organised, energetic and confident, with a strong work ethic and an ambitious nature
  • Knowledge and an interest in football and sports marketing is desirable
