Purpose of role

To coordinate all aspects of the junior training centre and pre-academy, while also assisting with the successful identification and recruitment of foundation phase and pre-academy players for the Academy.

Role overview

  • Coordinate all aspects of the junior training centre and pre-academy programmes including training and fixtures.
  • Ensure the philosophies of the junior training centre and pre-academy programmes are aligned to the Academy.
  • Advise on junior training centre and pre-academy players' progress within the under-seven to under-14 age groups.
  • Provide weekly organisational and session plans to junior training centre and pre-academy coaches.
  • Ensure all administration associated with the junior training centre and pre-academy is kept up to date.
  • Identify and monitor suitable clubs and organisations that could support the Academy recruitment strategy.
  • Establish a network of contacts within grassroots and other football provision throughout the club’s catchment area.
  • Consider additional areas within youth development that could aid scouting and recruitment within the Academy.
  • To act and conduct yourself in a manner appropriate to a representative of AFC Bournemouth at all times.
  • To undertake all reasonable instructions from the Academy head of recruitment.
  • To attend all staff meetings as required by the Academy head of recruitment.
  • To attend all CPD events as required by the Academy head of recruitment.
  • Meet all qualification requirements as required by the relevant governing bodies.

Internal – Academy manager, Assistant Academy manager, Academy head of recruitment, coaching department, operations department, medical department, education and welfare department.

External – Local clubs and organisations, parents and guardians, governing bodies.

Required qualifications

  • Scouting and recruitment experience
  • FA Level 2 in talent identification
  • Full valid driving licence
  • Valid DBS
  • Safeguarding children certificate
  • Computer literate

Desired qualifications

  • FA Level 3 in talent identification
  • Academy experience
  • Degree in a sports-based field
