Stock appointed in academy role

AFC Bournemouth have appointed former player Brian Stock as the under-14s lead coach.

The former midfielder made over 150 appearances for the Cherries between 2000 and 2006.

Stock also won three caps for Wales during his career which saw him make more than 600 professional appearances.

The 36-year-old had been playing at Havant and Waterlooville in the National League, but will retire from his 20-year playing career in January to focus on his role in the Cherries' academy.

Having run his own successful private youth academy which has seen a number of players make it into the Cherries youth setup, he has also earned his UEFA B coaching badge.

He said of the decision: "Calling time on my footballing career was a very tough decision, however with this opportunity at the club where I started my journey and a club so close to my heart made it an easy one!

"I'm looking forward to working with all the academy staff and players at AFC Bournemouth and am excited at starting a new chapter in my career."
