Sam Sherring helped Accrington Stanley to a massive win over Ipswich Town at the Wham Stadium on Saturday.

The defender played the full 90-minutes as Stanley defeated the pre-season title favourites 2-1.

Macauley Bonne opened the scoring for the visitors just before half-time, but Sherring’s side responded excellently after the break.

Colby Bishop scored his sixth goal of the season to level the scores before Harry Pell grabbed the winner with 10 minutes to go.

Jake Scrimshaw fell to defeat against his former loan side Newport County this week.

It’s been a tough start to the season for Scunthorpe United, who sit bottom of League Two, and Newport compounded their misery with a 3-0 defeat.

Ollie Cooper, Courtney Baker-Richardson and Dom Telford netted the goals as Scrimshaw played the full game.

Billy Terrell and Wimborne Town’s FA Cup journey finally came to an end in the third qualifying round as they were defeated by Hampton & Richmond Borough.

They’d defeated Basingstoke Town and Blackfield & Langley in the previous rounds to earn the tie against the National League South side.

Terrell started in goal and made a series of excellent saves to hold off the higher division side in the first half, including a magnificent fingertip stop from Charlie Wassmer’s header.

However, Hampton & Richmond finally took the lead just after half-time when Sam Deadfield’s penalty found the bottom corner, despite Terrell’s best efforts.

Further goals from Jordan Slew and David Fisher wrapped up the win, while Harry Morgan scored a consolation.

Under-21s defender Brooklyn Genesini joined Poole Town on a short-term youth loan on Saturday and he made his debut in a 2-0 win.

The Dolphins took on Beaconsfield in the Southern Football League Premier Division South and Genesini almost grabbed his first goal after 11 minutes, seeing his shot blocked.

Manager Tom Killick described the youngster’s performance as “really accomplished” when speaking to All Poole Aren’t We.

In the same division, Euan Pollock’s Truro City slipped to defeat against Farnborough, the youngster replacing Josh Barnes in the 75th minute.

A double by Paul Hodges in the first half was enough for Farnborough to clinch the points at Easy As HGV Stadium.
