Sherring involved in six-goal thriller

Sam Sherring played his part as his Accrington Stanley side were pegged back by a late goal in a six-goal thriller with Morecambe in League One.

The central defender was making his seventh appearance for Stanley and played the full 90 minutes in the 3-3 draw.

League One top scorer Cole Stockton opened the scoring for Morecambe in the 15th minute before quick-fire goals by Colby Bishop and former Cherries midfielder Matt Butcher put Accrington Stanley ahead.

Adam Phillips equalised in the 27th minute but Morecambe saw Shane McLoughlin sent off for a bad tackle.

Stanley eventually made their man advantage count when Bishop grabbed his second with just 20 minutes to go, but Stockton got his 10th goal of the season to ensure both sides went home with a point.

Jake Scrimshaw featured for the full 90 minutes for Scunthorpe United but couldn’t help them avoid defeat to Port Vale in League Two.

The Iron have endured a tricky start to the season and Ben Garrity’s 44thminute goal means they currently sit in the relegation zone after nine games.

Scrimshaw, who had appeals for a second half penalty waved away, has scored one and set-up one in his five appearances for his loan club.

Euan Pollock came on as a second-half substitute as Truro City enjoyed a big win over Chesham United in the Southern League Premier South.

The young striker, who is on a work experience loan with the White Tigers, replaced Rocky Neal in the 65th minute and went close to adding to Truro’s total, seeing a late shot blocked.

Neal had opened the scoring within the opening four minutes before Tyler Harvey added a second just before half-time.

Both players completed their braces in the second half as Neal headed home on the hour mark before Harvey volleyed home brilliantly to give Truro a four-goal lead.

Chesham scored a consolation with 15 minutes to go but it proved to be a comfortable win for the side managed by Paul Wotton.
