Scunthorpe loan move for Scrimshaw

AFC Bournemouth striker Jake Scrimshaw has joined League Two outfit Scunthorpe United on a season-long loan.

Scrimshaw is due to link up with the Iron ahead of their clash against promoted Sutton United at Glanford Park on Saturday.

The 20-year-old frontman has had valuable loan spells with Eastleigh, Walsall and Newport County since graduating from the Cherries academy ranks.

Scrimshaw made his Football League debut and scored his first senior goals after spending the first half of 2020/21 with the Saddlers.

He continued his footballing education with the Exiles, playing his part as they qualified for the League Two play-offs, the Welsh club eventually losing in the final to Morecambe.

Raised on the Isle of Wight, Scrimshaw enjoyed a productive loan spell with Poole Town in 2018/19 when he finished as their leading goalscorer as they reached the Southern League South play-offs.

He was named under-18 player of the year at Vitality Stadium in 2018/19 and rewarded with his first professional contract after plundering no fewer than 48 goals in the season.

Scunthorpe, under manager Neil Cox, are currently 19th in League Two having taken two points from draws against Rochdale and Walsall in their past two games.
