Pugh set to watch 'famous chop'

Marc Pugh is looking forward to taking a trip down memory lane when afcb.co.uk launches its Cherries Repicked series tonight.

Pugh played a starring role in AFC Bournemouth’s eventful 4-3 win at West Ham in August 2015 – the club’s first victory in the Premier League.

The clash kicks-off our new series of memorable games and will be live streamed on the official AFC Bournemouth YouTube channel at 7pm.

Pugh came off the bench at Upton Park to restore the Cherries’ lead before Callum Wilson completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot to make it 4-2.

The popular winger’s finely-taken goal saw him join an elite band of players to have scored in the top five flights of English football.

Pugh, a big fans’ favourite during his nine-year stay at the club, made his Premier League debut in the Cherries’ 1-0 defeat by Aston Villa on the opening day of the 2015/16 season.

Speaking earlier today to afcb.co.uk, Pugh, who is now at QPR, said: “I will definitely be watching the live stream on YouTube.

“I love watching things like this because it brings back so many amazing memories.

“In my nine years at the club, I made some lifelong friends and it was an incredible journey for me and the team.

“I’ll never forget that day at West Ham. We went into the game full of confidence because we had put in a good performance against Aston Villa.

“We absolutely dominated the Villa game but they had one chance and scored one goal. That just highlighted the ruthless nature of the Premier League.

“Callum was on fire and scored a couple of goals to put us 2-0 up before they pulled it back to 2-2.

“I came off the bench and scored with one of my famous chops!

“It is a day which will stay with me forever – my first Premier League goal and the club’s first win.

“To see the delight on the faces of all the supporters after the game was incredible.

“As a player, those are the days you live for and work so hard for throughout your career.

“The majority of that squad came up through the leagues and worked so hard to get there. It was an incredible journey and I’m looking forward to seeing a re-run of that game tonight.”
