Professor Jill Cook visits Vitality Stadium

AFC Bournemouth were delighted to welcome Professor Jill Cook to Vitality Stadium earlier this week.

Widely regarded in the sports industry, Cook is a professor in musculoskeletal health in the La Trobe Sport and Exercise Medicine Research Centre at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia.

Cook spent two days with the club’s medical and sports performance staff, culminating in a four-hour workshop to discuss the treatment and management of tendon injuries in professional football.

“Jill spent two days with us earlier this week running workshops and speaking to our staff and players about the treatment and management of tendons,” Dr Craig Roberts, AFC Bournemouth head of sports medicine, told afcb.co.uk.

“Jill is world renowned as one of the top tendon experts. She is leading the way in terms of understanding and managing tendon pathology.

“She was also able to spend some time with our players who have had previous issues with tendons.

“The presentation to staff and players was really well received. We had our internal staff present, as well as some external guests who we were able to invite in.

“The staff loved it, and it gave us a few different ideas as to how we can manage certain situations in players’ rehab and prehab programmes.”
