Podcast to mark 50th anniversary of SuperMac's record feat

A record which is unlikely to be broken, a feat which will probably never be repeated.

On 20th November 1971, Slade were number one, a pint would cost you 16 pence and Ted Heath was Prime Minister.

But it was another Ted who was making the headlines – none other than the Cherries’ Ted MacDougall.

Tomorrow marks the 50th anniversary of SuperMac writing a new chapter in the footballing record books when he plundered no fewer than nine goals in an FA Cup game against Margate.

His hat-trick of hat-tricks spearheaded Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic to an 11-0 victory against the Southern League outfit in the first round.

It remains an individual goalscoring record in the proper rounds of the competition and afcb.co.uk are celebrating the achievement in style.

Earlier this month, we sat down with Ted to discuss the memorable occasion and his career with the Cherries for a special commemorative podcast.

Ted, who was in town for the 1970/71 promotion reunion, also answered a selection of supporter questions and the podcast will be available to listen from tomorrow.
