Luke Nippard starred at both ends of the pitch as ten-man Eastbourne Borough triumphed 1-0 against National South rivals Hemel Hempstead at Priory Lane.
Nippard was pivotal to a move which almost saw the Sports take the lead in the 20th minute, his precision cross finding Charlie Walker whose header was well saved by Craig King.
The Tudors were awarded a penalty when Greg Luer was penalised for a foul on Charlee Hughes which resulted in the Sports man receiving his marching orders.
However, Hughes’s spot-kick was superbly saved by man of the match Lee Worgan before Joel Rollinson bagged the only goal with a header eight minutes into the second half.
Nippard played his part at the back as the Sports stood firm, the hosts defending a corner count which reached double figures and seeing out six minutes of stoppage time.
LEAGUE ONE
Sam Sherring looked on from the bench as Cambridge United shared the points from a 1-1 draw with Fleetwood Town at Highbury Stadium.
Sherring’s first three games for Cambridge saw them run out winners against Lincoln, Doncaster and Crewe but he was cup-tied for their Papa John’s Trophy clash against Rotherham in midweek.
Cambridge exited the competition after going down 7-6 in a penalty shootout with Sherring subsequently named among the substitutes for the trip to the Fylde coast.
The visitors opened the scoring when Anthony Pilkington was credited with an own goal in the 65th minute before Paddy Lane levelled for the hosts seven minutes later.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Ryan Glover featured as Aldershot Town claimed a dramatic 1-0 win over boss Mark Molesley’s former club Weymouth at the Bob Lucas Stadium.
Glover kept his place after scoring his first goal for the Shots in their 1-1 draw with Southend United, another of Molesley’s former clubs, in midweek.
He was replaced by Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong in the 64th minute with Brandon Goodship’s injury-time own goal seeing the Shots continue their excellent run.
SOUTHERN PREMIER SOUTH
Jack Seddon played his part as Poole Town registered a hard-fought 2-1 win over Swindon Supermarine at the BlackGold Stadium.
The Dolphins raced into a 2-0 lead thanks to two penalties from Will Spetch before the visitors halved the arrears through Tom Mehew on the stroke of half-time.
Seddon, who made his sixth appearance for Poole, helped them defend their lead in the second half as they bounced back following their midweek defeat at Hartley Wintney.
