New academy ID centre announced

AFC Bournemouth academy are pleased to announce the introduction of a new ID Centre at Brockenhurst College, Hampshire.

The new centre will become the fourth venue in which AFC Bournemouth currently operates an identification centre throughout the region, with existing centres in Dorchester, Blandford and Portsmouth.

Since its inception in 2015 the ID Centre has seen 40 players progress into academy football.

The Brockenhurst centre will cater specifically for players in the U9, U10 and U11 age groups and aim to provide a platform for players to progress from grassroots football into the full academy programme at AFC Bournemouth.

Head of academy recruitment Carl Robson said: "The shadow squad programme provides a platform for increased numbers of talented players to work within the AFC Bournemouth academy syllabus, whilst offering players further opportunities to showcase potential to academy staff over an extended period.”

In order to identify suitably talented players for the new centre the club's academy staff will be hosting a trial day at Brockenhurst College on Friday 27th October. Players will take part in physical and technical testing, as well as playing in small-sided games within the trial event.
