Molesley Makes Southend Switch

Mark Molesley has left his role as AFC Bournemouth under-21s assistant manager after taking on the position as Southend United's manager.

Molesley had been sharing his role at the Cherries with managing Weymouth, and takes the opportunity in the EFL having guided the Terras to the National League earlier this month following back-to-back promotions.

Southend will begin the new season in League Two after relegation from League One in 2019/20.

Molesley's association with the Cherries dates back to 2008 and his playing days, when he joined the club on loan from Grays Athletic, a move that became permanent in the new year as the side pulled off the Greatest Escape despite a -17 points deduction.

The midfielder made 52 appearances before his 2013 departure, though he soon returned to the club in a coaching role, most recently assisting Shaun Cooper in the under-21s setup.

AFC Bournemouth would like to offer Mark the sincerest of thanks for all of his hard work in recent years, while wishing him the the very best with his well-earned management opportunity with the Shrimpers.
