Chris Mepham played 90 minutes and helped strengthen Wales' position at the top of their Nations League group with a 1-0 win away to Bulgaria on Wednesday.

The defender missed his country's match as an injury precaution at the weekend but was back in the starting line up and came through unscathed in Sofia.

The win, secured by a late Jonny Williams goal, means Wales remain a point clear of Finland with four games played, Ryan Giggs' side out of reach of Ireland and Bulgaria in the bottom half of the four-team group.

The result was particularly impressive with Wales missing a number of key players, including Cherries man David Brooks, because of injury.

Joshua King started and played 65 minutes for Norway as they beat Northern Ireland 1-0 in Oslo.

A Stuart Dallas own goal won the match for the Norwegians, who are joint top of their Nations League group with Austria, both leading teams winning on Wednesday evening.

Philip Billing, Mark Travers and Asmir Begovic were all unused substitutes as their nations respectively beat England, lost to Finland and were beaten by Poland.
