Mepham and Wilson in Wales squad

Chris Mepham and Harry Wilson have been named in Ryan Giggs’ 26-man squad for the upcoming European qualifiers.

Wales fill face Azerbaijan at the Cardiff City Stadium on Friday 6th September, before taking on Belarus in a friendly three days later.

Both featured for their countries in the summer, alongside fellow Cherries midfielder David Brooks, who misses out next month due to injury.

Nathan Ake is in the provisional Netherlands squad for their European Championship qualifiers away in Germany and Estonia, while Joshua King has also been called up for Norway.

Elsewhere, Mark Travers has been named in the Republic of Ireland’s 40-man provisional squad for their upcoming fixtures.

Mick McCarthy’s side will take on Switzerland and Bulgaria as they continue their bid to reach next year’s European Championships. 

Alex Dobre is also set to play internationally having received the call to play for Romania under-21s.
