Chris Mepham and David Brooks made their major international tournament debuts yesterday as Wales earned a hard-fought draw against Switzerland.

The duo travelled to Baku, Azerbaijan, for their opening game of the delayed 2020 European Championship.

Mepham was named in the starting line-up and played the full 90 minutes, making a series of key interventions under intense Swiss pressure at times, while Brooks came on as a substitute in the 75th minute.

Cardiff City’s Kieffer Moore was the hero for Rob Page's side as his excellent header levelled the scores in the second half, following Breel Embolo’s opener.

Wales will return to Baku on Wednesday when they face Turkey in a crucial Group A match-up.
