Zeno Ibsen Rossi’s loan spell with Kilmarnock ended in disappointing fashion as the East Ayrshire outfit were relegated to the Scottish Championship on Monday.

Ibsen Rossi started as Tommy Wright’s team were condemned to a 4-2 aggregate defeat by Dundee, the Dark Blues winning both legs of the play-off 2-1.

Trailing 2-1 from the first leg at Dens Park on Thursday, Killie were left with a mountain to climb after Dundee stunned 500 home fans by netting two early goals at Rugby Park.

Danny Mullen and Lee Ashcroft were both on target inside the opening 12 minutes, leaving Killie’s unbroken 28-year stay in the Scottish top flight hanging by a thread.

And although Kyle Lafferty reduced the arrears from the penalty spot in the 69th minute, it was not enough to prevent their first relegation since 1983.

Killie were condemned to the play-off after finishing second from bottom in the Premiership, while Dundee were runners-up in the Championship.

Ibsen Rossi’s 20-game stay with Killie included 14 appearances in the Scottish Premiership, four in cups and two in the play-offs.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Sam Sherring featured as Torquay United were held to a 2-2 draw by lowly Barnet at Plainmoor on Saturday.

A share of the points for the Gulls, coupled with leaders Sutton United’s 3-0 win against Hartlepool on Sunday, ended Gary Johnson’s team’s title hopes.

The Devon outfit will now be hoping to reclaim a place in the Football League through the National League play-offs.

Torquay appeared on course to be keeping alive their chance of automatic promotion after goals from Jake Andrews and Connor Lemonheigh-Evans put them 2-0 ahead after 23 minutes.

But Sherring’s mistimed challenge on Harry Taylor gave Mike Petrasso an opportunity to halve the deficit, his penalty making it 2-1 in the 37th minute.

And Themis Kefalas, who had had a first-half header cleared off the line, nodded beyond Gulls goalkeeper Lucas Covolan following a free-kick after 54 minutes.

Sherring made his 41st league appearance for Torquay and was replaced by Kyle Cameron five minutes before half-time.

Brennan Camp started for Weymouth as they were beaten 3-0 by Notts County, a victory which booked the Magpies a play-off place.

Camp and his Terras team-mates lined up in front of a crowd of 4,197 at Meadow Lane as the venue welcomed back supporters following a 434-day absence.

Weymouth’s best opportunity in the early stages came from Camp who met Ollie Harfield’s diagonal ball with a header which cleared the crossbar.

The hosts opened the scoring through a Ruben Rodrigues penalty in the 25th minute after Jake McCarthy had been penalised for a foul on Jake Reeves.

And they doubled their lead three minutes later when Rodrigues’s free-kick looped up off the wall and Kyle Wootton poked in after Terras goalkeeper Ethan Ross had slipped.

Although Andy Dallas had a couple of chances for the visitors, County completed the scoring in the 64th minute through substitute Enzo Boldewijn.

Camp, who made his 33rd league appearance of the season, was replaced by Josh Leslie-Smith seven minutes from time.

Weymouth complete their fixtures with a trip to Hartlepool on Saturday and Brian Stock’s team will finish 18th in his first season in charge.
