Loan watch: Surridge nets late winner

Five AFC Bournemouth loanees were handed game-time across the weekend, with Sam Surridge’s 89th minute goal standing out.

Surridge got the crucial winner as Oldham beat Crawley Town 2-1 in League Two. With the score at 1-1, the forward came on as a substitute, replacing Christopher Missilou in the 59th minute, before scoring in the game’s dying embers to extend Oldham’s unbeaten run to five league games. The win lifts the Latics to sixth and into the play-off places.

Harry Arter was involved in the build-up play to Cardiff City’s first Premier League goal since being promoted and played the full 90 minutes as the Welsh side fell to a 3-2 defeat at home to Arsenal.

The Irishman also picked up a yellow card at Cardiff City Stadium.

Over in the MLS, Brad Smith enjoyed the full 90 minutes as Seattle Sounders responded to an early setback to beat Sporting Kansas City 3-1, despite having a man sent off in the 81st minute. The result narrows the gap between the two sides to four points.

Mikael Ndjoli came on as a substitute for the final ten minutes as Kilmarnock got a 2-0 away win over Aberdeen, lifting the former up to second in the Scottish Premiership. The result ended an 18-game unbeaten league run Aberdeen had previously had over Kilmarnock.

Elsewhere in Scotland, Emerson Hyndman appeared for the final 26 minutes as his Hibernian side conceded a one goal lead to lose 2-1 at Livingston.

Conor Mahoney was an unused substitute in Birmingham City’s 0-0 draw with Queen’s Park Rangers, whilst Matt Worthington came off the bench to make his debut for Forest Green Rovers in their 3-1 away win at Notts County.
