The focus for Sam Sherring and his Torquay United team-mates now switches to the National League play-offs as the regular season came to an end over the weekend.

Sherring played the full 90 minutes and helped earn a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw for the Gulls away at Altrincham, a result which meant the side finished second in the table, four points behind champions Sutton United.

Torquay will now have a weekend off to prepare as the play-off quarter-finals take place and Gary Johnson's squad wait to find out their opposition in the semi-finals.

Notts County host Chesterfield at Meadow Lane this weekend, with the winner to take on the Gulls.

If Torquay can then win their semi-final they will head to Ashton Gate in Bristol for the final and a chance to return to the EFL.

Elsewhere in the division, Brian Stock's Weymouth finished their campaign in a creditable 18th place in the National League table, despite a last day 4-0 defeat in front of supporters away at play-off-bound Hartlepool United.

Loanee Brennan Camp wasn't in the squad, though former Cherries Ollie Harfield and Josh McQuoid did feature for the Terras as the curtain came down on their successful return to the division after promotion last season.
