Sam Sherring scored his first goal at National League level on Tuesday evening, but it wasn't enough to prevent defeat for his Torquay United side.
The defender headed home from a corner midway through the first half of the Gulls' league match at Eastleigh.
However, the strong start from the visitors ended without points as Spitfires striker Ben House netted twice in the final 20 minutes to finish the game in a 2-1 win for his side.
There was little more success elsewhere in the National League for fellow loanee Brennan Camp. The defender played the full 90 minutes for Weymouth in their first home match of the campaign, but fell to a tight 1-0 loss to Woking.
