Loan watch: Ramsdale sees immediate action

Written by Iain Pearce

The day after heading out on loan to AFC Wimbledon, Aaron Ramsdale was in the thick of an FA Cup thriller which his new side won in the dying moments.

The England under-21s 'keeper joined his new team on Friday and was straight into the starting line-up away at Fleetwood Town on Saturday.

Ramsdale made a number of important saves as Wimbledon first sped into a two-goal lead before being pegged back level. The on-loan man then intervened again in the closing stages to ensure parity, setting the foundations for a late Kwesi Appiah winner which sends the Wombles into the fourth round.

Elsewhere in the FA Cup there was no upset for Connor Mahoney's Birmingham City away at West Ham, the Bournemouth midfielder played 73 minutes at the London Stadium but the Blues fell to a 2-0 defeat to exit the competition.

In the Vanarama National League Tyler Cordner started and helped Havant & Waterlooville keep a crucial clean sheet at home to Barrow in a 2-0 win, the result seeing the Hawks end the weekend 19th in the division, two points above the relegation places.

Defender Sam Sherring played 90 minutes for Mark Molesley's Weymouth as they kept up their promotion push with a 2-1 home win over Tiverton Town on Saturday.

The Terras lie second in the Evo-Stik League Premier South league table, four points shy of leaders Taunton Town.

That lead has been cut from six points, thanks partly to another Cherries loan defender. Brennan Camp pounced on some penalty area uncertainty to score his first goal for Dorchester away at table-topping Taunton, the goal earning a point for Camp's side in a 1-1 away draw.
