Keelan O’Connell became the latest AFC Bournemouth player to make a debut in the professional ranks when he came off the bench for Greenock Morton on Saturday.

The 19-year-old winger, who was raised in Ferndown, replaced Andrew Dallas in the 67th minute of Morton’s 0-0 draw against Ayr United at Cappielow.

O’Connell moved north of the border in January and could again feature when Morton visit fellow Scottish Championship play-off hopefuls Inverness Caledonian Thistle at the weekend.

His AFC Bournemouth teammate Charlie Seaman continued to impress for Dundee United as they claimed a 1-0 win at Queen of the South.

Nicky Clark’s first-half penalty took the Terrors to within three points of Championship leaders Ross County as Seaman helped them register a third win on the trot.

Jermain Defoe made his seventh appearance for Rangers in their 0-0 draw against St Johnstone at Ibrox, the Gers’ second successive stalemate in the Scottish Premiership.

Tyrone Mings played the full 90 minutes in Aston Villa’s 2-0 home defeat to West Brom in the Championship as the Villans slipped further off the play-off pace.

Alex Dobre went close to scoring for Yeovil in their 3-0 reverse at Forest Green in League Two, his effort tipped over the crossbar by Rovers goalkeeper Lewis Ward on the stroke of half-time. It was the Glovers’ sixth successive league defeat.

Aaron Ramsdale’s FA Cup adventure with AFC Wimbledon came to an end as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Millwall in the fifth round.

Ramsdale, who starred in wins over Fleetwood and West Ham to help set up the tie, made a string of fine saves but was powerless to prevent Murray Wallace’s fifth-minute header sending through the Lions.

Jake Scrimshaw took to 14 his goal tally for Poole Town after bagging a double in their 3-0 win over Southern Premier League South rivals Frome Town at Black Gold Stadium.

Scrimshaw’s first-half brace made it six goals in his past five appearances for the Dolphins. Replaced by Cherries teammate James Boote after 79 minutes, Scrimshaw was named man of the match.

Also in Southern Premier League South, Sam Sherring helped Weymouth record a 2-1 win at Walton Casuals before his loan with the Terras was extended until the end of the season.

Tyler Cordner played 90 minutes in Havant & Waterlooville’s 3-2 defeat by Wrexham in the National League, while Frankie Vincent came off the bench in the 71st minute of Torquay’s 2-0 reverse at Welling in National League South.

Brad Smith featured in Seattle Sounders’s 1-0 defeat against FC Dallas in the Mobile Mini Sun Cup at the Kino Sports Complex, a friendly which wrapped up the Tucson phase of their pre-season.
