Loan watch: How the Cherries fared over New Year

AFC Bournemouth had six loanees in action over the games either side of New Year, with two youngsters bagging goals for their respective sides.

After playing 90 minutes on Friday, as League Two outfit Yeovil lost 4-3 to Morecambe in a dramatic affair, Sam Surridge was on target for the Glovers yesterday.

Another Action-packed game for Darren Way’s side not only saw two of his players sent off, but also the game paused on the 80th minute due to a drone flying over the pitch.

Surridge netted the opener on 19 minutes, before Mark Randall levelled things up before the break. It was then a Thomas Verheydt header that won it for the visitors, in a game that also saw Matt Worthington bag 90 minutes.

Also in League Two, Ben Whitfield played over 70 minutes in Port Vale’s two games against table toppers Luton and second-place Notts County.

An impressive 4-0 win over the Hatters saw the youngster bag a third goal for the Valiants, as Neil Aspin’s side finished the year in 16th place.

Elsewhere, Sam Matthews, Ollie Harfield and Mark Travers were all in action over the New Year period, turning out for Eastleigh, Poole Town and Weymouth respectively.
