Honours finished even as Cherries team-mates Sam Sherring and Christian Saydee went head-to-head with their respective loan clubs on Saturday.
Sherring started for Cambridge United and Saydee made his third substitute appearance for Burton Albion as the League One rivals drew 2-2 at the Pirelli Stadium.
Gassan Ahadme’s penalty gave the Brewers a second-minute lead before Sherring went close to grabbing an equaliser, his header going narrowly over the crossbar.
Harvey Knibbs levelled midway through the first half only for Burton to regain the lead when William Kokolo bagged his first senior goal in the 62nd minute.
But Cambridge hit back for a second time through Sam Smith in the 72nd minute before Saydee replaced Louis Moult 11 minutes from time.
And the striker was quickly in the thick of the action, setting up Charlie Lakin whose low cross to Ciaran Gilligan looked destined to see him score only for Harrison Dunk to save the day with a goal-saving challenge.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Ryan Glover’s second goal in four games for Aldershot Town proved a mere consolation as they went down 3-1 against Grimsby Town at Blundell Park.
Glover netted in the final minute after Erico Sousa’s tenth-minute opener and John McAtee’s double had put the Mariners 3-0 ahead.
A superb run from Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain created the goal, the midfielder beating several Grimsby challenges before teeing up Glover for a close-range finish.
Glover, who made his 20th appearance for the Shots, twice went close to equalising with efforts either side of half-time when the score was 1-0.
NATIONAL SOUTH
Luke Nippard made his ninth start for Eastbourne Borough as they suffered a 3-2 defeat against fellow high-fliers Maidstone United in front of a crowd of 1,810 at Priory Lane.
Second-placed Stones opened the scoring through Jack Barham before play-off chasing Sports levelled through Charley Kendall.
Barham restored the visitors’ lead and then completed his hat-trick to put Maidstone 3-1 in front before Kendall’s second nine minutes from time set up a grandstand finish.
SOUTHERN PREMIER SOUTH
Owen Bevan tasted defeat for the first time in a Truro City shirt as they went down 2-1 against Tiverton Town at the Ian Moorcroft Stadium.
Bevan has played a starring role since joining the White Tigers last month, scoring once and helping them to five wins in his first five games.
His goal came in their 3-0 win over Poole Town last week while he was also named man of the match during their midweek victory over Metropolitan Police.
Bevan had another chance to score against Tiverton but saw his header from a Will Dean corner flash past the post midway through the first half.
Although Connor Riley-Lowe cancelled out Dan Hayfield’s first-half opener, former Truro player Austen Booth netted the winner 20 minutes from time.
Zeno Ibsen Rossi, an unused substitute during Dundee’s midweek win at Hearts in the Scottish Premiership, will be hoping to feature when they visit Peterhead in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup on Monday.
