Birthday boy Ben Greenwood admitted his National League debut with Weymouth had been a case of “mixed emotions”.

Greenwood started for the Terras in their 3-0 defeat against Torquay United at Plainmoor on the day he turned 20.

It was his first appearance in the fifth tier of the English game having had previous loan spells in Southern Premier South with Poole and Wimborne.

A member of the development squad at Vitality Stadium, defender Greenwood is in his first season as a professional and started all six of the Cherries’ Premier League Cup games.

Greenwood, who joined the Cherries at the end of 2018/19, told afcb.co.uk: “It was a day of mixed emotions for me.

“On one hand, I was very happy to have made my debut and it made it even more special the fact it was on my birthday.

“Then, on the other hand, the result was not the one we were hoping for but, nevertheless, it doesn’t take away from the fact that I have now made my National League debut.

“I’m hoping to get some game-time more than anything with this loan. But with that will come experience at the level that I have never had before which is hopefully going to be a big part in me making progress.”

Weymouth conceded twice in the opening 17 minutes and were condemned to a sixth successive National League defeat by the play-off chasing Gulls.

Stephen Wearne drew first blood for the hosts before Armani Little doubled their lead from the penalty spot following a foul by Ben Morgan.

Danny Wright completed the scoring with a header a minute into the second half before Gulls goalkeeper Shaun MacDonald pulled off a fine save to deny Greenwood a debut goal.

Connor Kurran-Browne made his seventh appearance for King’s Lynn Town in their impressive 2-0 win over high-flying FC Halifax Town at The Walks.

The 20-year-old frontman came off the bench to replace goalscorer Josh Barrett seven minutes from time, his fifth substitute appearance in the National League.

Barrett drew first blood for the hosts in the 53rd minute before former Halifax striker Gold Omotayo sealed victory in the first minute of added time.

Curran-Browne, who recently returned to fitness following injury, also came off the bench during the Linnets’ midweek defeat by Stockport County.

Ryan Glover was restored to the Aldershot Town starting line-up for their 1-0 defeat by Altrincham at the J Davidson Stadium.

Glover, who came off the bench in their midweek reverse at Torquay, made his 26th appearance for the Shots and was replaced by Mohamed Bettamer 11 minutes from time.

Dan Mooney’s deflected effort in the 87th minute extended Aldershot’s winless run to eight games.

Brennan Camp was ruled out of Eastleigh’s 2-0 defeat by leaders Stockport County having aggravated a foot injury during their midweek reverse by Dagenham & Redbridge.

LEAGUE ONE

Sam Sherring came off the bench in the closing stages of Cambridge United’s 1-0 win against AFC Wimbledon at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.

The 21-year-old defender made his 13th appearance for Cambridge when he replaced James Brophy in the sixth of ten minutes of added time.

Adam May’s stunning strike at the start of the second half settled the contest in favour of the visitors with Sherring helping them defend their lead as the Dons pressed for an equaliser.

SOUTHERN PREMIER SOUTH

Aaron Roberts (pictured above) and Owen Palmer both started in Wimborne Town’s 2-2 draw against Beaconsfield Town at Holloways Park.

Nathan Minhas’s double for the Rams was sandwiched between goals from Harry Morgan and Dan Bartlett as the Magpies fought back for a share of the spoils.

Marcus Daws won a penalty during Poole Town’s last-gasp 3-2 defeat by high-flying Chesham United at The Meadow.

Tony Lee’s double, his second from the spot after Daws had been fouled, saw the Dolphins cancel out Brad Clayton’s opener and forge 2-1 in front with 17 minutes remaining.

But there was a nasty sting in the tail for Tom Killick’s team as Malachy McGovern levelled before Jordan Edwards netted a dramatic winner deep in added time.

Noa Boutin was an unused substitute for the Dolphins, while Jack Seddon served the second of a two-match ban.

Owen Bevan and Matt Burgess both featured in Truro City’s 0-0 draw against struggling Kings Langley at Bolitho Park.

Bevan made his 12th start and Burgess came off the bench to replace injured skipper Jamie Richards after 20 minutes as the White Tigers battled out a third successive stalemate.

Jack Wadham came off the bench during the second half of Dorchester Town’s 1-0 defeat by promotion-chasing Metropolitan Police at the Avenue Stadium.

Wadham, who had missed the Magpies’ two previous games due to illness, replaced Tom Purrington in the 71st minute and as the hosts trailed to Liam Ferdinand’s goal on the stroke of half-time.
