Loan watch: Gradel on target

AFC Bournemouth had eight loan players in weekend action, with Max Gradel netting for Toulouse in Ligue 1.

Five others avoided defeat in a weekend full of action. Here’s a look at how they all got on…

Max Gradel

Gradel netted Toulouse’s only goal of the afternoon, but couldn’t help the side beat Strasbourg, losing out 2-1 away from home.

The Ivorian scored a wonderful left-footed volley from the edge of the box in the first half, before Kader Mangane's second-half penalty earned Strasbourg the win.

Lewis Grabban

Grabban got 73 minutes in the tank, as the Black Cats were 1-0 winners over Fulham at the Stadium of Light.

The striker has scored eight goals in his last ten games as Chris Coleman's side moved to 21st in the table.

Ben Whitfield

The youngster managed 71 minutes for Port Vale after returning from injury.

They were 2-1 winners over Carlisle, with the result moving the Valiants four points clear of the League Two relegation zone.

Mark Travers

The Irish goalkeeper was also on the winning side, gaining 90 minutes between the sticks as Weymouth beat Banbury United 2-1.

Travers put in another eye catching display, particularly with a brilliant save in added time to help the side retain the lead.

Matt Worthington

Worthington, who turned 20 today, played 90 minutes of Yeovil’s 0-0 draw with Mansfield, helping the Glovers keep a clean sheet.

Sam Surridge

Also at Yeovil, Surridge played 70 minutes of the 0-0 draw with Mansfield.

Ryan Allsop

Allsop got another 90 minutes for Blackpool, but couldn’t prevent a 1-0 loss to Shrewsbury Town.

Sam Matthews

Finally, Matthews also bagged a full game, but saw his Eastleigh side lose 2-1 at Ebbsfleet.
