Loan watch: Cup joy for Ramsdale

Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale played his part in helping AFC Wimbledon make history by knocking West Ham out of the Emirates FA Cup.

The Dons’ 4-2 victory over the Hammers at Kingsmeadow saw them reach the fifth round for the first time since they reformed in 2002.

And it was no more than the League One strugglers deserved as they dominated their Premier League opponents for long periods, especially during the first half.

They surged into a 3-0 lead courtesy of Kwesi Appiah’s deflected strike and a double from former AFC Bournemouth loan player Scott Wagstaff either side of the break.

Ramsdale made a fine save to keep out Michail Antonio’s shot before Lucas Perez seized on the loose ball to pull one back for the visitors.

He was powerless to prevent Felipe Anderson’s free-kick making it 3-2 before Toby Sibbick’s header put the seal on a famous win.

Ramsdale distinguished himself in the closing stages when he made a stunning one-handed stop to beat away another effort from Antonio.

Marc Pugh made an instant impression on Hull City supporters after coming off the bench in their 3-0 defeat by Blackburn in the Championship.

Pugh replaced fellow winger Kamil Grosicki midway through the second half at Ewood Park and with the Tigers already trailing 3-0.

Although Hull were under the cosh, Pugh “showed some neat touches and looked sharp on the ball with some great feet,” according to a report in the Hull Daily Mail.

In Scotland, Mikael Ndjoli came off the bench in the 79th minute of Kilmarnock’s 0-0 draw at Aberdeen, while Charlie Seaman was handed his Dundee United debut in their 1-0 defeat at Ayr.

Tyler Cordner played a starring role at the back as Havant & Waterlooville claimed a share of the spoils with National League rivals Dover Athletic.

The Hawks were reduced to 10 men following the dismissal of Chris Robertson in the 35th minute at Westleigh Park and Cordner defended resolutely in the 0-0 draw.

James Boote came off the bench six minutes from the end of Poole Town’s 2-0 victory at Dorchester Town in Southern Premier League South.
