Loan watch: Arter impresses in Cardiff win

AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

Harry Arter put in a man-of-the-match performance for Cardiff, as they beat Southampton 1-0 in south Wales.

The midfielder almost put his side ahead, volleying at Alex McCarthy early on, but it was Callum Paterson who got the only goal of the game just 15 minutes from time.

Arter was praised for his work ethic in the middle of the park, as Cardiff moved up to 14th in the Premier League table.

In the Championship, Connor Mahoney got 90 minutes for Birmingham, as they lost 1-0 to Bristol City. The defeat was the first in 16 games for the Blues, who remain ninth in the table.

In the SPL, Emerson Hyndman played 45 minutes for Hibernian, who were 1-0 winners over Hamilton, while Mikael Ndjoli came on for Kilmarnock with 12 minutes to go against Celtic, the current champions being 5-1 winners on the day.

Fellow youngster Sam Surridge was back in action for Oldham, playing 90 minutes in a 2-0 win over Crewe.

Elsewhere, Tyler Cordner also managed 90 minutes for Havant & Waterlooville, who moved into 19th with a 2-1 win over Braintree, while Sam Sherring’s Weymouth won 1-0 against Frome.
