Loan watch: Afobe hits a double

11 Cherries players were in action over the course of the weekend, with Benik Afobe netting twice to Championship table-toppers Wolves.

Here's a closer look at how those on loan fared... 

Benik Afobe

Afobe was on hand to net twice in Wolves’ 3-1 win over Burton Albion, keeping them top of the Championship and closer to securing Premier League promotion.

Helder Costa netted the first for the hosts, before Afobe fired into the top corner from Ruben Neves’ through-ball to double their advantage.

In the second-half, the 25-year-old doubled his tally, netting from 10 yards and ensuring Wolves moved six points clear.

Lewis Grabban

Fellow striker Grabban played all 90 minutes for Villa following his goal last week, but Steve Bruce’s side lost 1-0 to Bolton.

Nevertheless, the side remain in the play offs and currently lie fourth in the league.  

Max Gradel

Over in France, Gradel saw his Toulouse side come from behind to draw 2-2 at home to Strasborg.

The striker gained another 90 minutes for a second successive week.

Baily Cargill

Cargill also got 90 minutes under his belt, but his Partick Thistle side lost 3-0 to sixth place Hearts.  

Sam Surridge

It was a good weekend for Surridge and Yeovil. The Glovers earned a 1-0 win away at Colchester, with the stirker coming on for the final 25 minutes.

Ryan Allsop

Allsop was also on the winning side, with Lincoln moving into the play-offs.

A 3-1 win over Grimsby sees them climb into seventh in League Two to keep promotion hopes alive.

Aaron Ramsdale

Fellow ‘keeper Ramsdale played his tenth 90 minutes for Chesterfield, who drew 1-1 draw at Cheltenham.  

Sam Matthews

In the National League, Matthews’ Eastleigh side drew 0-0 with Dagenham & Redbridge, with the midfielder coming on after 68 minutes.

Shaun Hobson

Under-21s defender Hobson kept another clean sheet for Chester, who drew 0-0 with sixth place Aldershot.

Hobson played all 90 minutes as the points were shared.  

Will Dennis

Dennis played between the sticks for the in-form Weymouth, who won 2-0 against Dunstable Town.

Mark Molesley’s side are third in the Evo-Stik League Southern and sit just five points off top spot.

Patrick O’Flaherty

O’Flaherty was back in action for Gosport after a wrist injury, but Gosport lost 5-2 to Redditch United at Privett Park.

Elsewhere

Connor Mahoney, Ben Whitfield, Mihai Dobre, Joe Quigley and Ollie Harfield did not feature for their respective sides.
