Loan watch: 12 Cherries in action

AFC Bournemouth had 12 players in loan action of the course of the weekend.

With goals, clean sheets and one player getting in his league's Team of the Week, there were plenty of positives to take.

Here's a closer look at how they got on.

Lewis Grabban

The striker netted the opener for Aston Villa, who recorded a 4-2 win at Sheffield Wednesday to keep their promotion hopes alive.

The goal paved the way for a Villa comeback, after the side came from a goal down to secure the three points.

Benik Afobe

Afobe played 13 minutes as Wolves lost 2-0 to Fulham. Despite the defeat, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side remain six points clear at the top of the Championship.

Connor Mahoney

The youngster played the final 30 minutes of Barnsley’s 2-0 win at strugglers Birmingham.

Baily Cargill

Despite taking the lead, Cargill’s Partick Thistle side couldn’t overcome Hamilton at the Superseal Stadium, as David Templeton scored a last minute winner.

The Cherries defender, however, did play a full 90 minutes.

Ben Whitfield

Whitfield came off the bench at half-time for Port Vale, who held out for a 0-0 draw against Newport.

They slip to 22nd in League Two, five points off the drop.

Sam Surridge

The striker gained another 90 minutes for Darren Way’s side, who narrowly lost 1-0 to Carlisle.

Despite the defeat, Surridge has now played the full game on the last three of Yeovil’s outings.

Aaron Ramsdale

Ramsdale’s Chesterfield side were 2-1 winners against the 10 men of Swindon Town, after Ollie Banks was sent off for the visitors.

The youngster earned praise for an excellent save in the opening half, turning behind a Matt Taylor free-kick to keep Swindon at bay.

Ryan Allsop

Lincoln’s promotion hopes were damaged this weekend, with a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Crewe Athletic.

Cherries ‘keeper Allsop played a full 90 minutes, with his side still in play-off contention. The Imps lie eighth, just four points off seventh with a game in hand.

Joe Quigley

Quigley came off the bench for Boreham Wood, who managed a goalless draw at Woking. The side sit fifth in the National League on 60 points.

Sam Matthews

There was another goalless draw in the National League, this time for Sam Matthews, who played every minute of Eastleigh’s 0-0 draw with Halifax.

As a result, his performance earned him a spot in the Non-League Paper's Team of the Week.

Shaun Hobson

Hobson also got 90 minutes in the tank, but Chester were narrowly defeat 3-2 by Dagenham & Redbridge.

Will Dennis

The young ‘keeper got 90 minutes between the sticks for Weymouth, with the Terras failing to overcome high-flying Hereford.
