Lerma's Cafeteros hold Brazil

Jefferson Lerma was part of the Colombia side that halted Brazil's winning run in a World Cup qualifier on Sunday.

Heading into the home match in Barranquilla, the Selecao had won all nine of their qualifiers but were held to a 0-0 draw by Colombia.

Lerma started the match and played 53 minutes before being replaced by Mateus Uribe, with Colombia's Raphael Borre missing one of the game's best chances with just seconds to go when he blazed over.

Past the midway point of CONMEBOL qualification, Colombia sit fifth in the standings, just a point behind Ecuador and Uruguay in third and fourth in the group - the top four nations automatically heading to Qatar next year while the fifth-placed finisher will face a play-off.

In the capital Kingston, Jamal Lowe and his Jamaica team-mates earned a point from a 0-0 draw with Canada.

The Cherries forward came on in the 74th minute, Kemar Roofe twice going close for the hosts with the best chance for Canada coming for Liam Millar, thwarted by a brilliant save from 'keeper Andre Blake.

Jamaica remain searching for their first win in the World Cup qualification phase and travel to Honduras for their next match on Thursday.
