Lerma starts as Colombia comeback

Jefferson Lerma was in the starting line-up in Barranquilla as Colombia came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Argentina in their World Cup qualifier.

Cristian Romero and Leandro Paredes gave the visitors a flying start, with Colombia's head coach Reinaldo Rueda shuffling his pack after half an hour to focus more on attack, Lerma giving way in the tactical change.

The reshuffle had a positive effect with Luis Muriel halving the deficit from the penalty spot just after half time, Miguel Borja then scoring a last-gasp leveller in added time to to claim a dramatic point for Los Cafeteros.

The result leaves Colombia fifth in the CONMEBOL qualification table for the 2022 World Cup, level on points with Uruguay in fourth - the top four automatically going to Qatar next year, the fifth entering a play-off.

Elsewhere on the continent, Nathan Moriah-Welsh won his third cap for Guyana and had his longest international exposure yet in a home World Cup qualifier with Puerto Rico.

However, Guyana's final match in their CONCACAF group stage had a disappointing result as early strikes from Ricardo Rivera and Isaac Angking won the game 2-0 for the away side in Georgetown.

Looking to turn the Golden Jaguars' fortunes around, Moriah-Welsh was introduced as early as the 31st minute, going on to play more than an hour for his national side.

Finally, in central Europe Mark Travers was an unused substitute for the Republic of Ireland who drew 0-0 in a friendly away in Hungary.
