Lerma makes Colombia return

Midfielder Jefferson Lerma came on as a second-half substitute for Colombia as they gained a 0-0 draw with Uruguay in the World Cup qualifiers.

Colombia are sat in 5th place in the CONMEBOL qualification standings and will look to move into the top four to secure automatic qualification to Qatar, with games against high-fliers Brazil and Ecuador coming up in this break.

The midfielder replaced Porto's Mateus Uribe in the 57th minute to earn his 25th cap and almost scored the winner in the 78th minute, a header from the edge of the box forcing Fernando Muslera to tip over the bar.

Colombia's David Ospina was called into action several times in the first half, making a series of good saves, but the best chance of the game fell to Duvan Zapata in the 70th minute but his close-range effort was stopped by Muslera.

Jamal Lowe got his second cap for Jamaica as they fell to defeat to the United States in their latest World Cup qualifier.

The Reggae Boys travelled to Austin, Texas for the encounter and Lowe started in an attacking three.

The United States dominated the first half but Jamaica twice saw themselves go close, Lowe's curling left-footed effort from the edge of the box was tipped wide by Matt Turner.

However, Jamaica's resolve lasted until the 49th minute when young striker Ricardo Pepi netted the opener. The FC Dallas man scored his second just after the hour mark to make it a 2-0 defeat for Lowe.

Morgan Rogers was in action for England under-20s as they drew with Italy in an international friendly at Chesterfield's Technique Stadium.

The forward came on as a second half substitute, replacing Faustino Anjorin in the 63rd minute, and went close to a last-gasp winner when his long-range effort in stoppage time was well saved by Ludovico Gelmi.

Italy had opened the scoring in the first-half through Daniel Maldini, son of AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini, before Leeds United midfielder Lewis Bate equalised.
