Nathan Ake played 90 minutes for Holland, who recorded a 1-1 draw against World Cup semi-finalists Belgium.

Playing in the Heysel Stadium in Brussels, Dries Mertens opened for the hosts just five minutes in, before Arnaut Groeneveld levelled the scores just before the half-hour mark.

Ake, playing on the left of a back three, almost found a winner in the second half, forcing a good save out of Jasper Cillessen after directing a Memphis Depay corner goalwards.

In Norway, Joshua King also played 90 minutes for his country, who recorded a 1-0 win over Bulgaria in their Nations League fixture.

A goal from Mohamed Elyounoussi 31 minutes in was enough for the three points, as Norway come away from the international break top of their group, with nine points from a possible 12.

It was also a successful evening for David Brooks and Wales, the 21-year-old playing 87 minutes of the side’s 1-0 win over Ireland.

A superb free-kick from Harry Wilson was the only goal of the game, with Wales also moving top of their Nations League group.

Elsewhere, Lewis Cook was an unused substitute as England under-21s defeated Scotland under-21s 2-0. The Young Lions booked their place at next year’s European Championships last week.

Earlier in the week, 'keepers Asmir Begovic and Aaron Ramsdale were unused substitutes for Bosnia and England under-20s respectively.
