AFC Bournemouth had four players on international duty yesterday evening.
Lewis Cook, Asmir Begovic, David Brooks and Aaron Ramsdale all featured in a night that saw plenty of goals across the three fixtures.
Cook captained England under-21s as they booked their place at next summer’s European Championships.
An emphatic 7-0 win over Andorra saw Dominic Calvert-Lewin bag a brace, as well as the likes of Ademola Lookman and Dominic Solanke get on the scoresheet.
Cook himself bagged an assist for the Young Lions’ second goal of the night, shooting from range and forcing a good save from ‘keeper Francisco Pires, before Ezri Konsa tapped home the rebound.
But Cook wasn’t the only Cherries man to come away with an assist last night.
Wales’ Brooks provided a sensational cross with the outside of his foot, finding the head of Sam Vokes who neatly cushioned the ball home in the final minute.
It was nothing but a consolation for Wales, who went down 4-1 on the night, but the Cherries winger certainly made an impact at the Principality Stadium after coming on at half time.
Menacing runs down the right and clever one-twos caused problems for the former World Champions, who had little to do in the way of defensive work in the opening half.
Elsewhere, Cherries shot-stopper Begovic featured in the second half of Bosnia’s draw against Turkey, keeping a clean sheet in the 0-0 stalemate.
Fellow 'keeper Ramsdale played 90 minutes for England under-20s, who won 2-1 against Italy, with the youngster impressive in the final stages to keep Italy at bay.
Ryan Fraser was forced to withdraw from the Scotland squad due to injury, so did not feature in last night’s fixture against Israel.
