International debut for Zemura

Jordan Zemura made personal and club history on Thursday after making his international debut for Zimbabwe.

The left-back lined up for the Warriors for the first time in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against champions Algeria.

Becoming the first Cherries player to appear for Zimbabwe, Zemura started and played 70 minutes of the match in Algiers, earning plaudits for his play despite his side falling to a 3-1 away defeat.

The loss was the side's first after three games in Group H of qualification for the 2021 competition, which is due to start in January 2022 in Cameroon.

In a group also containing Zambia and Botswana, Zemura's side remain in the second qualifying berth behind runaway leaders Algeria, who Zimbabwe play again in their next match at home in Harare on Monday.

Back in Europe, David Brooks was an unused substitute for Wales, who drew 0-0 with the USA in a friendly at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea.

It was a similar story for goalkeeper Mark Travers, who remained on the bench for the Republic of Ireland as they lost 3-0 to England in their friendly at Wembley.
