AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Jordan Holmes has signed a loan deal with Scottish Premiership outfit St Mirren.

The Australia under-20 international will spend the rest of the season with the Paisley-based club.

Holmes will compete for the number-one spot with fellow new recruit Vaclav Hladky, the Czech having signed for the Buddies earlier this month.

St Mirren, who tomorrow host Alloa in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup, are currently two points above Dundee at the foot of the Premiership.

Holmes joined the Cherries as a 16-year-old in June 2013 after impressing in a friendly against the club while on a tour and moved from Australia to pursue his dream to become a professional footballer.

He has travelled with the first-team squad as cover on three occasions in the Premier League and was named on the bench for the final game of 2015-16 against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Sydneysider, who signed a new contract at the end of the 2017-18 season, has had loan spells with Eastbourne Borough and Weymouth during his time at Vitality Stadium.
