Gosling completes Watford move

Dan Gosling has completed a permanent move to Watford for an undisclosed fee, bringing to an end his spell of over six-and-a-half years as an AFC Bournemouth player.

The midfielder joined the Cherries in May 2014, helping the club to promotion to the Premier League during his first campaign in Dorset.

Gosling then played a key role in keeping Bournemouth in the top flight for five successive seasons, the club’s first campaigns at that level.

After signing on a free transfer from Newcastle United, Gosling went on to make a total of 192 appearances for the Cherries and scored 22 goals, with two coming this season in the 3-1 away win against Coventry City in October.

Gosling also departs with the distinction of being the club’s all-time record scorer in the League Cup.

“Dan has been an outstanding servant to the club over the past six-and-a-half years,” said AFC Bournemouth chief executive, Neill Blake.

“He played an important role in helping this club reach the Premier League and then establishing us there for five seasons, scoring some crucial goals along the way.

“Dan is a model professional; someone his team-mates admire and younger players look up to.

“We can no longer guarantee him the regular game time he wants at this stage of his career, and he leaves AFC Bournemouth with everyone’s thanks and best wishes for the next step.”
