Foodbank point added to matchday

New for the start of the 2018/19 Premier League season, AFC Bournemouth are introducing a Bournemouth Foodbank matchday collection point.

Bournemouth Foodbank are the club’s official supporters’ charity partner for the upcoming campaign, as voted for by Cherries fans, and help local people in crisis through the provision of emergency food.

Ed Briggs, operations manager at Bournemouth Foodbank, said: “Bournemouth Foodbank is completely reliant on the generosity of our community. All we do is pass on your donations to local people in crisis. A huge thank you to the team and supporters at AFC Bournemouth for the food you are collecting for us. Please bring along an item or two from our list to leave at our collection point – it all makes a huge difference!”

Rob Mitchell, commercial director at AFC Bournemouth, added: “We’re proud to be partnered with Bournemouth Foodbank and to be working together to help end poverty and hunger in our community.

"We had a successful matchday collection at the Arsenal fixture in January so we’re hoping that the presence of a collection point at every home match this season will help raise awareness of the charity and the reality of food poverty in Bournemouth.”

Bournemouth Foodbank are currently urgently looking for the following items:

- UHT or powdered milk
- Tinned meat
- Tinned dessert (custard or rice pudding)
- Tinned fish
- Fruit juice (long-life cartons)

Supporters wishing to donate items can do so using the collection point, which will be positioned close to the entrance of the Superstore on matchdays throughout the season.

Bournemouth Foodbank keep an updated list on the items they are running out of on their website - here.
