Former AFC Bournemouth defender Gary Cahill has announced his retirement from playing following an illustrious 20-year career in the game.
Cahill made 22 appearances and was a key figure as the Cherries won promotion from the Championship last season.
Signed in August 2021, Cahill made his debut in a 3-0 win over Barnsley and starred in a ten-match unbeaten run which included nine victories.
He made 585 career appearances for the Cherries, Crystal Palace, Chelsea, Bolton and Aston Villa and also had loan spells with Burnley and Sheffield United.
Cahill’s impressive CV includes a Champions League winner’s medal, two Premier League titles and 61 caps for England.
One of the leading appearance-makers in Premier League history, he played 394 games for Aston Villa, Bolton, Chelsea and Crystal Palace.
During eight years at Stamford Bridge, he won the Champions League, the Europa League twice, two Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the League Cup.
He captained the Blues to victory in the 2018 FA Cup final against Manchester United and also skippered his country and lined up in the 2018 World Cup when England reached the semi-final.
