Jermain Defoe’s stunning strike against Crystal Palace has been nominated for the Premier League’s Carling Goal of the Month for December.
From a tight angle, the England international struck a sweet first-time volley up and over Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni.
It was Defoe’s second goal in a dramatic game, which ultimately ended level at 2-2 following a late penalty save from Asmir Begovic.
The goal is one of eight up for the monthly gong, with strikes from the likes of Mohamed Salah, Philippe Coutinho and Mesut Ozil also nominated.
The winner of the award will be decided by a combination of a panel of experts and a public vote and will be announced on Friday 12 January.
