Club to support Bournemouth's pride festival

AFC Bournemouth will be joining Proud Cherries and celebrating diversity in Dorset at Bourne Free, Bournemouth’s annual pride festival.

This year’s pride festival, which has a Hawaiian beach party theme, kicks off with a free family event on Friday 13th July at 5pm in the Triangle Arena outside Bournemouth Library.

AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust and Cherry Bear will be at the family event with Powerstrike. Supporters can come along to enjoy an open-air screening of the Little Mermaid followed by live on-stage entertainment and free candy floss, popcorn and children’s face painting.

The parade takes place the following day on Saturday 14th July, starting on the East Cliff at 11am and concluding at the Triangle Arena around midday.

AFC Bournemouth and Cherry Bear will be marching in the parade alongside Proud Cherries, the club’s official LGBT supporter group. If you’d like to show your support and get involved with the club’s presence, contact proudcherries@gmail.com.

There is also lots of free entertainment on the bandstand in Bournemouth Lower Gardens from 12.30pm to 4.30pm with stalls and organisations to come along to chat to.

From midday through to 11pm in the Triangle Arena on Saturday 14th July, there will be a over 18s only party event. The main stage will host acts including Courtney Act (Ru Paul and Big Brother Winner), Dane Bowers, Michelle Heaton (Liberty X), Artful Dodger, Brandon Block and S Club among others.

The event will be hosted by Lucinda Lashes and Cosmic and supported by drag acts including Miss Jason and Divina Da Campo. This element of the festival requires a wristband, which you can purchase on the Bourne Free website or on the gate on the day.
